Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2000 Unfiltered

Produced from 75% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Napa Valley Merlot and 10% Napa Valley Cabernet Franc from the estate's vineyards planted in 1990 on the Napa Valley hillsides east of the Silverado Trail.

The reticent nose opens to black currant, vanilla and hints of cedar. The lush full-bodied palate continues with flavours of ripe cassis, vanilla and hints of tobacco. The long and intense finish is accentuated by the young velvety tannins. Drink now through 2017.

90/100 Signorello cabernet has always been one of Napa's best and with a $20.00 drop in price it may now be Napa's best value. Look for the usual big concentrated cabernet/cassis nose with subtle streaks of cedar. There’s 15 percent merlot and ten percent cabernet franc in the blend. It's not a monster red but it has a reasonable amount of depth given the vintage. Look for black fruit and coffee mocha flavours with fine-grained tannins and smoky oak in the aftertaste. Solid.   AG

Estate Chardonnay 2002 Vieilles Vignes

The grapes sourced for this unfiltered native yeast fermented Chardonnay were hand picked and carefully selected from the original Napa vineyard planted in 1980. These 24 year old vines yielded an average of 1.7 tons per acre.

The nose opens with intense tropical fruit, toast and mineral aromas. Rich fruit flavours, especially of apple and pear enhance the lush palate. French oak provides a touch of spice with hints of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. A bright apple-like crispness balances these silky, toasty layers.  Enjoy 2003 to 2010.

92/100  At Signorello “Vieilles Vignes” means vines that are 24 years old and fruit that is unfiltered and native yeast fermented. The yields are a stunningly low 1.7 tons per acre on average. Less new oak and less toast is de rigueur nowadays at Signorello something we wish the rest of California would catch on to. The emphasis’ is more and more on fruit as evidenced by its rich apple/pear flavours and mineral streaks throughout. A complex heady, mouth-filling chardonnay with elegance. AG

Seta 2001

This barrel fermented blend of 60 % Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc is made in the style of a traditional white Graves from Bordeaux.

A full bodied wine with a spicy nose offering hints of melon, nectarine and fresh mown hay. Crisp flavours of fresh fruit (pears, melon and passion fruit) balance the rich vanilla and mineral overtones. The long juicy finish lingers with aftertastes of vanilla and pear. Drink now to 2010.

91/100  This barrel fermented 60/40 sémillon/sauvignon blend is 'silky' smooth on the palate living up to its Italian moniker 'Seta.' Spicy melon notes with nectarine skin and citrus rind undertones. Juicy rich fresh and creamy this is a delicious drop of wine and should be on every wine list in the city. Serious sophisticated and now more affordable than ever. AG
