Masia Vallformosa

Vallformosa is all around the Penedes region,  It is a  family owned winery comprised of many estates and it’s in the process of acquiring new farming lands in order to improve the quality of the wines and cavas.  In the Catalan language, Vallformosa means “beautiful valley”. Beauty has guided the tradition of the vineyards since their inception almost 150 years ago.

 

Over one hundred years ago, after the decimation caused by the arrival of phylloxera, Vallformosa lead the efforts to restore the vineyards of Penedes by planting uncontaminated vines. The ageless beauty of the land shows that the region still has a soul, and the maximum expression of this soul is the wine.

 

Claudia de Vallformosa (Blanco)

Harvested from the “La Sala” and “Can Baltà” vineyards in Alt Penedès, the 70% Parellada and 30% Muscat underwent a prior maceration with the skins (for 12 hours) at 10–12ºC.  Fermentation then took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 14–16ºC.

 

Clean, fresh and a wonderful nose and palate, it is recommended for fish and seafood, cocktails, avocado with shrimps, salmon, melon with ham, poultry, pâtés and foie gras. Serve well chilled between 5ºC and 6ºC.

MVSA de Vallformosa Cava Brut

The blend of 35% Macabeo, 30% Xarel·lo,and 35% Parellada grapes from the Alt Penedès vineyards went through the traditional method of fermentation (1st) in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16ºC – 18ºC and then (2nd) in bottle with a minimum ageing of 12 months in bottle.  Finally disgorged and and shipped.

 

Recommended for servingat social gatherings as a reception wine, alone at any time, with appetizers or, to accompany light meals. Serve between 5ºC and 6ºC.  Wondeful with Asian or Indian cusines.

MVSA de Vallformosa Crianza 2005

From the "Vallfort" estate in the Baix Penedès, the 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha underwent a maceration and fermentation of 8-10 days in stainless steel tanks at 25ºC–28ºC.  Then aged in American oak casks for a minimum of 6 months and finally finished in the bottle for at least 24 months prior to release.

 

Recommended for rice dishes (paella), fideuà, cured meats, barbecues and with fresh and cream cheeses. Serve between 15ºC and 16ºC.

MVSA de Vallformosa Reserva

The 85% Tempranillo and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were harvested from the "Vallfort" and "El Maset" estates in the Baix Penedès were macerated and fermented for 15 days in stainless steel tanks at 26ºC–28ºC.

 

Ageing took place in new American oak casks for a minimum of 6 months and further 6 months in 2–3 year-old American oak casks; then, finished in the bottle for at least 36 months prior to release.

 

It is recommended for the best recipes of meats in sauces, duck and cured cheeses. Serve between 17ºC and 18ºC.
