DOQ Priorat 2004 Perinet

Grown in predominantly slate with a small percentage (2%) of granitic soils the young vinyards are 6 to 8 years of age and the old vineyards are 35 to 80 years old. The Perinet 2004 is a blend of 45% Cariñena, 35% Garnacha, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 3% Syrah all vinified and aged separately in 300 and 400 litre barrels and assembled at bottling.

 

The nose is fine, complex and elegant with notes of mature red fruits surrounded with mineral shades and spices. The palate is dominated by the fruit, and soil showing to be smooth, amiable and elegant, with a granulated texture of the tannins that give a fine and sweet attack on the palate. It finishes with a rich and persistent fragance.

 

To best enjoy this wine it is suggested that it be decanted.  It will reward cellaring for at least 5 more years.

DOQ Priorat 2004 Perinet + (Plus)

Of the 49% Cariñena, 38% Garnacha and 13% Syrah grapes that went into this magnificent blend, 87% came from more than 80 year old vineyards and 13% from a vineyard 7 years of age.

 

The Perinet+ 2004 is a wine with great personality. It has a complex and elegant nose,with concentrated notes of mature red fruits, surrounded with mineral shades,spices and wood. In the mouth, it is smooth, elegant, silky and corpulent with sweet, amiable tannins and a granulated texture. It finishes rich and with very persistent aromas.

 

Because of its good cellaring potential,it is recommended it be decanted to futher enjoy its complexity. This wine will continue to reveal all its virtues over the next 10 years.
