An eclectic education in winemaking saw Daniel Favetier's work throughout France's vineyards before inheriting the family owned Domaine. His medal winning wines are a testament to his skill as a winemaker. This wine was made from 70% Grenache (for strength), 22% Carignan (soften the power of Grenache) and 8% Mourvâdre (for its tannins) grapes grown on soils composed of tertiary sediments (miocene); hard chalk; mass of fallen earth; and old alluviums with very blunted stones.
The 2004 Côtes du Ventoux "Lou Magnan" offers a beautiful limpid and shiny garnet colour. It evokes aroma of blueberries and raspberries but also of sweet spices like vanilla and cardamom. This powerful wine is structured and well balanced; the tannins silky almost sweet; and, has a very pleasant after-taste. It will be the ideal companion for barbecue, grilled meats and exotic dishes (Indians or North African). It should be drunk at a temperature of 14-17°C and will drink well into 2010-2011.
