Fouassier Père et Fils

http://www.fouassier.com/

The Loire Valley, 200 km south east of Paris, is home to the eleven single natually sustained vineyard Sancerres produced by Fouassier Père et Fils. Now with its 10th genereation of family members working to ever improve and innovate.

Known for their intensity of flavour, bright colour and classical varietal aromas and flavours, the eleven are always highly rated and in high demand. Also produced is one single vineyard red wine (Pinot Noir), L'etourneau AOC Sancerre Rouge.

AOC Sancerre Clos de Bannon 2007

The 15 year old Sauvignon Blanc vines on this  2Ha property produce a distinct palate and nose.

The robe is pale yellow and limpid. The nose is neat and tempting, and reveals citrus fruits and ‘white flowers’ aromas with a mineral background.  In mouth, this is a wine with a nice clean freshness. It is round and pleasant with a nice lemon final.

Another natually sustained vineyard with different soil conditions produces another exceptional Sancerre!

AOC Sancerre Les Romains 2007

Produced from 25 year old vines grown in a 3.5Ha vineyard on the clayey and chalky sub soil of the area known as "terres blanches", the 100% Sauvignon grapes are hand picked at optimum ripeness and undergo a traditional vinification in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.

There were no insecticides or herbicides used in the vineyards and as such may be considered "organically grown" (definitely natually sustained)

This versatile wine with fine floral aromas, steely flavours (gun flint) and exceptional length on the finish is best served at 13°C as an aperitif, to accompany chevre cheese, white meats, fish, seafood dishes or salads, and at any social occasion.

gismondi_logo_w.gif 89/100  Floral, slate, citrus rind, passion fruit, green melon aromas. Dry, elegant, rich entry with some finesse. Ripe passion fruit, grapefruit, mineral, grassy flavours with some creamy, butter on the finish. Very well balanced and ripe. A fine Sancerre that is well worth buying. AG-ST

AOC Sancerre Melodie de Gusatave Fouassier 2004

Rather unique in Sancerre.  The best Sauvignon Blanc grape clusters from a natually sustained 1Ha vineyard of 35+ years old vines are fermented and then aged sur lies in an French oak barrel for around ten months with stirring of the lees. Racked and aged in tank to give enough time for the oak to melt with the wine. This wine has not been subjected to any treatment or fining so it is possible to find deposit or natural crystals in the bottle.

Golden yellow robe with nice golden tints. The nose develops vanilla tones and floral aromas. The palate is soft and round and has toasted notes in the finish.  A harmonious whole.

Your senses will be charmed if you serve it with sweet breads or spicy dishes.  Ideal for a dinner with friends.
