Clos du Chapitre

Ancien Vignoble des Moines de Cluny.

 

Founded by the Benedictine Monks of Cluny, the great influencers of Burgundy and subsequently the world of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, who introduced these varieties into the region and set up the demarcations that are still used today - they were all about "terroir." 

 

This property is one that has a wall surrounding one of the ancient chapels at Cluny, the site of the first Abbaye in Burgundy.

Produced by Jacques Dépagneaux from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Clos du Chapitre in the Maçon region of southern Burgundy.

 

Gold in colour it has a floral nose with almond and apple nuances.  In the mouth it is lively and fresh yet maintaining the roundness and uppleness of Chardonnay.

 

Serve between 10 and 12°C with grilled or poached fish or with goat's cheese.
