Originally an ancient fort of prominence in the renaissance, it is a dominant winery of 40 hectares found at an elevation of 300 metres. 2005 Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva Oro

85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo & 5% Trebbiano

An exceptional wine from an exceptional year, this Riserva wine was produced from the finest Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Trebbiano/Malvasia grapes hand-picked on the Chianti Classico Luiano Estate. Only 2,500 cases were made.

Harvested late September/early October, the grapes underwent a traditional red wine fermentation in stainless steel tanks with an intentional warming to encourage a secondary malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged three years in oak casks in an aging room that goes back to the 12th century.

"Possessing a ruby to deep cherry red colour with a persistent bouquet, this full bodied wine is smooth, round, dry, and mouth-filling. Very good length."
