Podere Guado al Melo

www.guadoalmelo.it

A property of 10 Ha, owned by Michele Scienza, situated in the heart of Bolgheri territory in Castagneto Carducci in the Tuscan Alta Maremma extends from the foot of the hills (near the sea) and is surrounded by woods of Mediterranean scrub and by the Fossa de Bolgheri stream.  Cultivation techniques are based on the criteria of Integrated Pest Management and with great respect to the environment and consumer health.

Bolgheri Rosso D.O.C. 2002

Produced from green harvested, thinned and selected grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot that have gone through a traditional red wine fermentation then placed for 8 months in French and Italian oak barrels (10% new wood) for a Malolactic fermentation “sur lies” until one month before bottling.

Serving temperature 16°-18°C; ideal with cold and smoked meats, Tuscan crostini, pasta with meat sauces, white meat roasts and poultry.

88/100  Open spicy, black olive, cassis, gamey, smoky, tobacco leaf aromas. Dry, round, soft palate with light tannins. Peppery, spicy, tobacco, earthy, coffee flavours with cherry, plum and cassis on the finish. Elegant but shows some dryness and acidity. Try with grilled meat or osso buco or age 1-2 years.  AG-ST
