Sogno Mediterraneo

IGT Toscana (2002)

Sogno Mediterraneo translates as Mediterranean Dream.  An amazing wine from what was considered a difficult vintage because of rain; this IGT Toscana wine comes from a 4.5 Ha estate in Suvereto.  Produced from Sangiovese, Syrah, Alicante, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon all fermented and vinified separately. Blended in French Oak barriques (80% new, 20% 1 year old) where the natural malolactic fermentation took place then allowed to age 14 months prior to bottling in April 2004.

Intense ruby red in colour.  Forward balsamic and spicy notes, followed by scents of red fruit. Prominent ripe fruit flavours with a supple, warm, full and very persistent palate.  Ideal with richly textured appetizers, or in general, with lighter preparations typical of the Mediterranean cuisine, both meat and fish; also, very good with boiled dishes.
