Grande Garde
A.O.C. Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2000
Just released (in 2003), this is the most powerful and robust of Gerard's cuvées made primarily from Grenache to which a small amount of 100 year-old vine Mourvèdre is added. This single vineyard old-vine Châteauneuf-du-Pape brilliantly exhibits his art.
As Robert Parker Jr. wrote...
"The seriously concentrated 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grande Garde offers classic aromas of crushed pepper, balsam wood, garrigue, cherry liqueur, and plums. It is the most voluptuous of this quartet, with considerable glycerin as well as sweetness. Moderate tannin suggests cellaring is warranted. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2018”

Lou Magnan
A.O.C. Côtes du Ventoux 2001
An eclectic education in winemaking saw Daniel Favetier's work throughout France's vineyards before inheriting the family owned Domaine. His medal winning wines are a testament to his skill as a winemaker. This wine was made from 70% Grenache (for strength), 22% Carignan (soften the power of Grenache) and 8% Mourvèdre (for its tannins) grapes grown on soils composed of tertiary sediments (miocene); hard chalk; mass of fallen earth; and old alluviums with very blunted stones. The 2001 Côtes du Ventoux "Lou Magnan" offers a beautiful limpid and shiny garnet colour. It evokes aroma of blueberries and raspberries but also of sweet spices like vanilla and cardamom. This powerful wine is structured and well balanced; the tannins silky almost sweet; and, has a very pleasant after-taste. It will be the ideal companion for barbecue, grilled meats and exotic dishes (Indians or North African). It should be drunk at a temperature of 14°- 17° and can be kept during 3 to 4 years.

A.O.C. Gigondas 2000
This is the wine of a small vigneron from Gigondas, passionate about his wine-making, who until now was too small to sell his wine by himself. These bottles represent a long time hidden treasure for the epicurean. An exceptional fragrance of very ripe cherries, almost jam-like; and, an impression of game in red wine sauce, showing off a muscular body that enchants the palate.
