Phoque Blanc

V.D.P. des Côteaux des Baronnies 2004

A subtle yet complex, fruity and aromatic un-oaked 100% Chardonnay from the south-eastern Rhone Valley. The vineyard located in the Côteaux des Baronnies, at an altitude of 300 to 600 meters, provides a unique microclimate giving the wine a special appeal.    Brilliant pale gold colour with a nose of lemon and exotic fruits; it is very fine and delicate in the mouth with ample length on the finish.  Best enjoyed at 12 degrees Celsius (not too cold) as an aperitif or, as the locals do, with grilled fish or seafood.  Screw-capped for convenience and to preserve its freshness.

Phoque Rouge

V.D.P. des Côteaux des Baronnies 2003

This oh so subtle, complex and fruity wine is produced from 90% Grenache, 5% Syrah, and 5% Cinsault grapes that came from clay-limestone vineyards located  in the south-eastern part of the Rhône Valley, in the Drome region, on the borders of Provence and Dauphiné. Their altitude, from 300 to 600 meters, provides a natural barrier which provide the vines a unique micro climate. Note the deep ruby colour with a nose of blackcurrant and raspberry; and in the mouth, it is very fruity and well-balanced, with a wide range of red fruits on the palate.

Best enjoyed cool at 14-16° with hors d’œuvre, cold plates, and hot red or white meat dishes. An ideal wine for every day.

David Kinor

Syrah d'Oc 2003(Kosher)

This un-oaked Syrah wine from the Languedoc (the Clayey Limestone vineyards are located between the “Canal du Midi” and Narbonne) was produced using a traditional vinification for 25 days and a thermo-regulated fermentation. It is deep purple colour with a nose of ripe fruit, thyme and rosemary.  Full-bodied with leather and spices on the nose and palate. Best served at 17-18°C, it is best suited to red meats and/or cheeses (but not necessarily at the same time). It is also Kosher (Mevushal).

Terre de Schistes

A.O.C. Faugères 2001

A fantastic buy from the Languedoc.  This wine is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre grapes grown on schist soil. The colour is intense and vivid ruby; the nose is powerful and loaded with bright tones of spice and red fruits.  A rich mouth-feel that combines pepper and red fruits on round tannins. Serve at 17 to 18 degrees Celsius with various meat dishes and medium cheeses.

85/100  Spicy, sweet cherry, pruny, barnyard nose with some alcohol showing through. Very soft and dry with a round structure and hot, peppery, black cherry, orange peel, strawberry flavours. Smooth and fruity but alcoholic with some acidity on the finish. A fine ribs and pizza wine.  AG-ST

Château Gély

Côteaux du Languedoc A.O.C. 2000

What the Languedoc is coming to.  An un-wooded bright red wine produced from well ripened Syrah and Grenache grapes grown on chalky and clay soils. A traditional 25 day fermentation in vats followed by tank maturation provides for its brilliant ruby red appearance and full aromas of red fruits.  The palate is full and well-balanced confirming the fruity notes of the nose and finishes long.

Serve at cellar temperature with meats and grilled poultry.
