Château Lagarosse
Château Lagarosse stands on the slopes of the right bank of the Garonne River, 20 km south-east of Bordeaux. With it's four symmetrical towers, Lagarosse represents a unique example of Napoleon III architecture, however the history of the château dates back to the 16th century when it was simply a country house.
Covering an area of more than 40 ha, 32 of which are under vine, the southern facing Château Lagarosse vineyard comprises different soil types : dry limestone, gravel and sand (known locally as boulbènes).
In order to achieve a perfect balance between soil, climate, and exposure, the vineyard is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon for the red wines and 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc for the white wines. The average age of the vines is 25 years, and the replanting programme allowed the winemaker and his team of professionals at Château Lagarosse to benefit from the latest research in viticulture.
