Château Joanny

This prestigious Côtes du Rhône Château has been managed since 1880 by the Dupond family (the same as Château du Cray in Burgundy).  The 120 Ha vineyards in the heart of the Uchaux Massif, near Orange, mainly produce red wines appreciated in France and around the world.  The winemaker, Pierre Chaupin, a graduate in agronomy and oenology, is constantly concerned with obtaining the optimal level of quality.  Using his immense talent in both the vineyard and winery has garnered 160 awards and medals in the past 8 years.

A.O.C. Côtes du Rhône Villages 2005

The principally Grenache and Syrah with small amounts of Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Clairette grown on chalky, clay and stony (large flat rocks) are vinified separately before being blended into a powerful wine exhibiting concentrated fruit aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry finishing with remarkable length on the palate. Enjoy at 15 to 20 degrees Celsius with a variety of red and white meats and with cheese.
