Marzelleau, EARL Nelly

Domaine les Grands Presbytères is based in St Fiâcre, southeast of Nantes at the mouth of the Loire.  St Fiâcre is considered one of the best sites for Muscadet Sèvre et Maine due to the high proportion of flint in the soil, The estate was established by Nelly Marzelleau's grandfather in the 1950's.

2012 Domaine des Grands Presbytères Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie

Melon de Bourgogne

While most vineyards are dug up and replanted after 40 years, this Muscadet 'Vieilles Vignes" is a rarity as the vines at this small estate are over 50 years of age.  Made in the traditional fashion and to keep the purity of flavour and retain the delicate nuances, the grapes were hand-picked, lightly pressed and, fermented at cool tempertature. Older vines need longer on their fine lees so this wine was not bottled until a year after the October harvest.  Mineral and flinty, with layer upon layer of lime notes; gentle aromas and, an exquisite silky texture shows the personality of this special wine.
